Over the last year the Workplace Relations practice within this internationally recognised firm has gained a new direction, to deliver a holistic service that encompasses the three pillars of Workplace relations; Employment, Industrial Relations and OH&S. At the Associate level, you would have exposure to these matters including claims, investigations and advisory work but not yet had the full autonomy to take ownership of transactions.

Without the micromanagement structure that other specialist teams operate in, the Partner has an open door policy, whether it is a technical question, career advice or any concerns. You will be encouraged to manage matters and liaise with HR and IR managers directly. Although the expectations of the Partner are high, they are realistic and recognised with a transparent pathway.

Leveraging off the cross-connections prevalent throughout this firm, instructions are drawn from resources, transport and construction executives. Represent clients in discrimination and unfair dismissal claims, industrial disputes and advise on investigations including workplace bullying. The people orientated and less transactional approach that you identify with has enabled you to gain a successful outcome a within the Fair Work Commission and Industrial Relations Commission. Interestingly, you will have the ability to extend your breadth of workplace experience to date with involvement in black letter safety matters.

You will have a hunger for long term progression that involves assisting with frontline initiatives such as attending seminars and conferences and the beginnings of building a profile in Perth then this will appeal. A minimum of 2 years post admission experience within a reputed employment practice is essential to ensure your alignment and progression within this firm. Additionally, a Bachelor of Laws with strong academics is required.
